Correct Resistance

1.5V 100mA LED OHM's law states that R=V/I 5V/0.1A = 50Ω Why does the single 50Ω resistor circuit not produce the correct resistance to satisfy the LED?

The resistor just needs to drop 5V - 1.5V = 3.5V / 0.1A = 35 Ohm
