This should do the job, but I would suggest buying a new power supply Again, please insulate all connections, this is a lot of power and this can start a fire if shorted out, so take care :) Also, this will make a decent spark when plugged in, but nothing unlike a TV or computer smps, but it's fine :)

This is fascinating. Can you explain what's going on in the circuit?

120VAC RMS input goes to transformer, gets reduced in voltage to a bridge rectifier, and goes to a zener diode and capacitor to smooth to a stable voltage for the load (lamp)

Ya know Jake, I been meaning to bring it up but, I'm thinkin we need to battle rap at some point. Just for fun- not cuz I want everybody to see you cry- more for support ya know..

Faceblast, does that mean you'll MC? Nice. It'd have to go down on G+ tho- my boy Jake here is a prolific explicator lol!..

that huge cap is going to blow his breakers as soon as it turns on.

also 25V at 6 amps is going to need at least a 300va transformer, that's going to be about six inches across and probably cost $50. it's seriously cheaper and easier to swipe an existing SMPS from a laptop

Thanks guys! I've actually been working on running two ATX PSU's together in series with the second PSU's ground lifted as to not short out. I had it working. But alas...I was so exited I neglected to place electric tape around the final two connectors, and an itty bitty part of the plug I had made touched the box. So one PSU down the drain. Primary still works. About to hack another.

check the fuse and varistors. and be more careful. seal all your joints with heatshrink, put grommets in metal holes, use non conductivity epoxy to hold bits in place, and cover any remaining hard to reach with spray-on insulation tape. always remember that just one slip can kill you and your entire family

Haha, yeah, I gave this about the total capacitance of 10 SMPS xD Oh god imagine shorting that 0_o *zap* x_x dead haha
