I found out that when you ground the secondary the transformer will work. This is what you have to do if you are.new to EveryCircuit and need to use a transformer

Lesson 2, a transformer requires an AC Voltage to enable it to work.

Or pulsing it ( taping it on , off, on off ) with dc

you put the ground component on any node you want to be referenced as "zero volts". then the voltage on the other nodes are calculated with reference to where that zero is.

the transformer isolates either side from each other, so to calculate the voltage on either side, they both need to be connected to "ground"
