Motor Speed control - help - version2

Hi can somebody help please. Will this work if we replace the LED with a dc motor, i have different types of motors and ill use a regular small dc motor not the ones on the phones,more like the ones on rc cars wheels. Just wanted to know of this would slow it down, since im making a tatoo machine. I was planning to make this a foot pedal.. Thanks

This will work, but just if the motor is very small (the potentiometer will get hot), if the motor is just a little bigger, I recommend a PWM (a little more complex. End don't forget to put a diode parallel to the motor

not just that ..... the potentiometer used is very high in value so it cannot give enough current for the motor to run in most of the turn values ..... motor takes minimum 50mA so only when the pot is set to very low values the motor will run....... pwm control can be implemented easily with a 555 timer ..... just google "555 timer pwm"
