The current animation scales based on the largest current in the circuit, which in this case is your shorted diodes (5A), so the load current (1.3mA) is displayed more weakly.

Yes check battery polarity. Also your trigger pulses are at 1V and you have 2 voltage drops on the Darlington setup there. So increase pulse voltage to at min 1.4V. Remember VBE=0.7V. For auto H bridge have one pulse delay set to 50%.
