These 30W lamps only gain their resistance after their hot enough to produce a significant amount of light. I remember that I tried using a multimeter to measure the resistance of an incandescent bulb (probably 60 or 100W) and I measured something like 15ohms but when it’s fully powered (loaded with full 120V) it should have a resistance of 200-300ohms. So that means that this circuit will overload your 555 timer with way more current than it can handle. You should use pencil leads instead. They work great as resistors. If you want a high resistance resistor you could even use the pencil to make a very dark patch on a piece of paper by pressing down as hard as you can with the pencil without breaking it and moving it around to make a solid dark patch. It might have a resistance of a few mega ohms or so.

Lol. Very cute.

Some time ago I actually saw a video which explained that the filament of the lamps can add lot of stability to an oscillator. Anyway she was using them on a wien bridge tho.

Cold resistance: 25 watt@50ohms, 55 watt@17 ohms.
