the 2k resistor resembles faulty current. The 1k resistor resembles the load. As long as the same current flows through both transformers, their secondary coils voltage results in 0 because they are in series and one is reversed. If current only flows through one of the twoo transformers, there is a resulting voltage on their secondary coils triggering the relay. This circuit does NOT show the actual circuit diagram of an rcd it just shows the interaction of the two transformer like coils cancelling out as long as the current comes back through neutral and triggering if not.
