How do i calculate how much capacitance is needed to best filter the voltage?

I chose 100 microF as a random value...

Also, is it possible to see the waveform of the voltage through the lamp? I can only get the graph of the current....

Voltage is measured aganst ground, so you need to view the cable thats going to the lamp and is not ground. 1000 or 2000 µF is a good value but you will never smooth the voltage completely fith only capacitors. For that you need some kind of automatic stabilizer like the linear regulator.

Download ElectroDroid. It has all kinds of calculators and stuff.

@adwaitforit, if you want to learn something you should follow @Igor's little rectifier tutorial http://everycircuit.com/circuit/6522660511023104 there is a little formula to calculate the right capacity. It depends on many things like transformer impedance diode resistance and load resistance and last but not least frequency. Hope this helps
