One shot for counting circuit

Hello, would this be a good way to give a counting circuit a really fast pulse, in order for it to not double count?  I’ve made a 0-99 counting circuit with 2x7447 ic and 2x7490 ic.  The count skips every now and then…. Also thought about replacing both chips with 2x4026 ic’s… any help would be appreciated.

How fast fo you mean by "really fast", kHz, GHz? If you repalce the inverter with a comparator (with a reference from a pot and the 5v supply) then the output will be the same even if the circuit hasn't fully reset.
