Sound to Light Kit

Here is that awesome little circuit I was telling you guys about a while back. The title says it all- it's got an electret mic to pick up sound that is proportionally displayed by the LED's intensity. I'm still not sure if I have the input modeled correctly, but I did measure the resistance of the microphone @ 1.75K, and took a voltage reading on the mic+ node while in operation- it held steady (even with changes in sound intensity) at 8.6V. All credit to Velleman Inc. for this particular schematic. It works like a charm! *Notice to EC Users*-- Ok I'm gonna be straight with you for a sec- if you have the parts, make the time and BUILD THIS!! Trust me, it's worth it. Everyone who sees it will think it's super cool, and will think you're super smart and just that much more awesome! The build isn't too difficult and the rewards are long lasting because this thing is entertaining- just plain fun to watch. Besides the original kit I got ($7) I've also made myself a custom 12V version from scratch, which instead of just 4 LED's I have it output to a 3-section LED bar that was intended as accent brake/running lights for a truck. Forget the truck!- I currently have the 60 LED display mounted on a bookcase in my bedroom. And yes, it •is• pretty friggin sweet! So yeah, build it. Um, transistors are BC547/557. You can use a wall plug or battery (i also modified mine to be powered by a vehicle's accessory outlet). Any questions or comments, shoot 'em my way and I'll be happy to answer what I can! Good luck and have fun.... Do it!..

Thanks. I built a real one a while back, along with it's own custom enclosure- currently rebuilding it tho, trying to get better performance out of it. I'll have pics and a video posted over at EC's Google+ community very soon. If you haven't joined us over there yet well, what are you waiting for?..

Hey. I like their work and ideas. I have in recent times not so much of my work published since I am not spezialisit. But I'll give my best.

Santa recently tossed a breadboard my way. A few audio amps later I purchased this app. Looks like I've found the perfect follow up project. I'll try to report back. Thank you, kind stranger!
