Designed to give a bit more control for cooling fans, mainly to keep them quieter and only run when they're needed to save power.
Green resistor = NTC Thermistor
As the temperature increases resistance of the thermistor decreases and at a pre-set point the fan turns on in low power mode. If the temperature increases further the power of the fan is increased propotionally up to it's maximum.
