A step-up cycloconverter is a circuit that increases the frequency of a voltage source. In this circuit, a center-tapped transformer is first used to create an inverted and a non-inverted version of the input voltage; next, a switching mechanism is used to connect the load (100ohm resistor) to either outputs in a successive manner at a frequency higher than the frequency of the input voltage, which creates a higher frequency voltage at the output. In this circuit, the switching mechanism is realised with the help of MOSFETs and an appropriate driving signal, but it is typically realised with SCRs.
