Did you know that an inverter can be used as an op-amp? With the proper feedback, an inverter can be operated as a negative input op-amp. The output will be limited to the 0 to +5 volts range, I believe, but the feedback will keep the amp linear and gain set by feedback values in the same way. I just remembered this and I am dying to try it out.
