Why cant this find a solution

This works fine when the current in the branch I'm trying to use the MOSFET in ohmic mode is lower than the current that's being sensed on the positive input of the op amp.  Once it flips, it can't find solution.  Is it an op amp configuration?  A fet configuration?  Or a circuit design error?

Your opamp is currently being used as a comparator. Was that your intention or should it be an amplifier?
