This simulation is designed for the use of arduino. The circuit is designed to detect a forward reverse dc motor or actuator of different current ratings via transistor and optoisolator.
Operation
The circuit will use two complementary power transistors e.g. Tip41 Tip42 as the current divider. In the collector and base the photodiode inside the opto isolator is connected to the similar configuration in the circuit. During turn on either forward or reverse a small amount of current starts to flow through the opto isolator diode which turns on the opto isolator, the current then flows through the transistor causing it to turn on powering the load motor or actuator. In case of circuit disconnect the opto isolator will turn off.
Usage:
Detecting actuators activity without a mechanical sensor/switch. Actuators have internal cut-offs if it reaches its maximum/minimum extension. Mechanical sensors have higher maintenance cost compared to non-mechanical sensors.
