12.7 vac to 5 vdc. Top circuit is a series reg, bottom is a shunt reg. Both are maintaining a constant current across the end resistors (simulated load).

Try a capacitor across the output of the bridge, it will smooth the final output, for the load as indicated start with 22uf, at about 220uf the ripple level is not too bad.
