transformerless supply based led lamp

It is a basic circuit to create a led lamp without transformer in which capacitor at input changes the current and resistor at output changes the voltage. The other resistor and capacitor are the protection circuit.

needs at least a 12Watt 1kOhm resistor!

Well, if you set the voltage the proper peak voltage, not rms, that resistor sees 157mA at 161V. That's 25W.

I giveup to tell users.... just concentrating on power disipation and if i see they start to think about then tell them the voltage is wrong. But most dont care anyway

@rbrtkurtz, you see electronicsbuzz dont care what we told him at all. The bad thing is his description which reads for unexpirienced users like he know what he is doing.

1) Screw the 1/4W resistor to threw PCB. 2) I'll give him the benefit and dune he hasn't checked yet.
