Adjust the voltage to 2 volts so you don't burn out the lights.

Also, these bulbs are actually in parallel the way they are wired. They look like series because they are inline with one another, but wired in parallel. If they were in series then when one bulb was disconnected both wouldn't light. They used to wire head lights on older cars in series (this was in the early 1900s), and if one bulb burned out both lights stopped working, not good. So they started wiring them in parallel, now one can burn out and you still have a headlight to see.
