Led is not emitting.... what is the reason? if anyone helps me out

The source voltage and the circuit currant very weak to activate the diodes. Look the diodes configuration parameters. (20ma) (12v) make it ( 1ma and <3V) and Change source voltage to 5v, the diode must emitting

You only need one resistor of about 150 ohm, power supply 5 volts, led set at 2 volts. see examples.

Contrary to popular belief, an LED (although it is technically a diode) cannot withstand reverse current in excess of about 20uA), or so. This will vary from Diode to Diode, but you need to check a datasheet for reverse breakdown.
