Multiplies voltage by two one diode charges the first capacitor to "source voltage" the other diode doesn't conduct so the other capacitor is opened and doesn't interact..... Now when the current is inverted the other diode#2 is "on", the capacitor #1 was already charged so it ads up with the source, you can prove this with LVK theory so now the second capacitor is charged by twice the voltage source
