This curcuit (simplified) was found in a headphone amp. It basically goes from very low treble to basically no treble at all, so what's the point? It's only listenable at the absolute max. setting anyways. Otherwise it sounds more muffled than AM radio... in the room next door... when your ears are covered with pillows.
