Irl the capacitor would need to be a lot larger, when testing circuits likely this, the timebase should be closer to reality, (IE; in the onesecond range.)

That is correct. Depending on the need, the values of the capacitor and the coil must be adjusted. Possibly a resistor is also conceivable. However, in rare cases, a very short time difference may be desired.
