I need to do a current transformer

I am not sure if you can emulate a current transformer (CT) on EC, it works on a different principle to a standard transformer. Basically a CT is a toriod core with many turns of fine wire that is placed around a current carrying wire it realies on a load on the secondary because if it is not loaded down the transformer the voltage gain is so high that when you open the secondary while there is current in the wire being measured, there is a good chance you will see a lot of smoke. There is two basic types of CTs one gives a 0 to 5 amp ac output representing the circuit current. The other one gives a 0 to 20 mA dc. output.

Use a ccvs or cccs on the input.

On mains power supply?

No you put a ct on the mains. To emulate a non invasive measurement on EC a cccs or ccvs would be suitable. Like hurz' optiprobe simulating a opticoupler.

I concur with your statement, however his basic statement was that he needed to do a current transformer a ct.
