I'd appreciate any suggestions for my first effort at a circuit, just wetting my toes, so to speak.

First go to the Examples tab and look through it. (Para on led current limiting). Next download an app called "Lessons in Electricity ". Then search for circuits on things you like and study those. Last and most important KEEP ON POSTING and ask questions most of us are just learning anyway. Some brilliant folks on here that will help you learn.

This circuit lower all resistors to 47 ohms. An led uses 2 amps at 2 volts.

An led needs around 2V across it which gives around 20mA current through it.

Which is what you will get if you reduce resistors to 47 Ohms as suggested.
