Weird mosfet distortion

Makes a weird rounded sine wave. Wonder if this would be good for a distortion effect in an audio circuit…

The feedback point should be at the load and not at the MOSFET gates. See: https://everycircuit.com/circuit/5402502037766144

That may be the point of this circuit. Connecting the feedback to the gates causes the distortion.

Connecting the feedback to the output greatly reduced the distortion (in fact, there seems to be none).
