This circuit converts the input voltage (saw generator) in binary value. The increment is 2.5V and the input is from zero to 10V. There are two LEDs for visual representation. The circuit can be extended to an arbitrary number of bits. Why use discrete technique to make ADC? Because transistors can operate easily in the GHz which is not case with integrated ADCs
