This circuit can be used to control the direction of the current by switching between switch 1 & 2,. If both switches are on LEDs wont work.

Well, when both switches are on, you create a shortcitcuit, all four transistors are on so you could use amother two transistor to block eachother after the switches. Anyway, in practice it would be much better a mosfet bridge with a driver circuit like ir2110. Good job, AES!
