idea for an inverting comparator with hysteresis controlling an N MOSFET. if the current through the load and fet is above 177mA, the comparator outputs low and turns the fet off. the circuit must then be reset by grounding the load.
current sensing is done above the fet to prevent oscillating; when the fet switches off the sense line goes to rail voltage. if it was done below the fet, when the switch is off the sense line would go to 0, and the inverting comparator would invert this and turn the fet back on.
