An electrical capacitor in a direct current (DC) circuit stores electrical energy by accumulating electric charge on two opposite plates. Once the capacitor is fully charged, it blocks the DC current, as no further current flows. However, during the charging phase, it allows current to pass for a short period until the maximum voltage is reached.
