By pressing either the NO or the NC push buttons repeatedly, you can trigger a signal loss threshold and start the second counter to find out how long the loss lasted. This simulates a signal that diviates either positive OR negative from the nominal voltage.In the real world the switch inputs would be replaced by the signal you want to monitor.
