This works if your 12V power supports negative current. So it must work at least in two quadrants. Keep it up.

The ground should be moved to the negative of the 24 volt battery terminal too be a proper circuit. This will allow the function you suggest.

I imagine here the ground in it's present position ensures an equal voltage drop across load and battery.

And the load sets the charging current via kirchoff's current law.

No indicated battery location just 3 battery's and a light bulb. There are 4 sides to the circuit moving the ground around the side's will yield the same results so I guess the program is the problem i guess. Or like the stalker says mega stupid grounding is ok with the program.
