Left upper open circuit is connection to distributor points wire with bottom connected to auto ground. Change period on square wave generator to simulate engine RPM change. Open switch on 555 output is where micro amp meter goes. Some calibration of scale would be needed.
Increase engine idle speed until alternator starts charging seems much easier, right?
