Generates an Exavolt, Why does this happen to me?

An inductor acts like a short circuit to DC, so a lot of current flows. When the current in an inductor abruptly changes (like when you hit the button to instantly stop the very large current), it creates a large voltage, which ends up especially large due to the high quantity of current flowing. The 1:1000 ratio of the transformer multiplies that voltage by 1000 to create an even more extreme voltage.

That doesn't explain why it shorts 0V DC (a sine wave with 0V initially).

What do you mean?

@AlejoA, put a 1K load across the output, wind the timebase to 1s/s, then see what it does.

I don't know why EC shows 'battery shorted' when a sine source with 0 degrees phase shift is connected to an inductor. Once the waveform starts, it shouldn't short out right?

EC coils are ‘ideal’, that is they have no resistance. That’s what causes the message. Add a very small resistance in series with the coil to replicate real life.

@fatcat2 they add internal 0.1 Ohms resistor to the transformer's primary.

EC shows battery shorted when any voltage source is DC shorted, even if it has 0V DC.

Yup; that's what I meant. Dunno why, probably coz it cannot divide by zero?

Either that or simply not bothering to let 0V DC sources in particular be shorted.
