@rk- please tell me you knew about that website already! Anyone practicing electronics should absolutely bookmark that domain. So much to learn there from schematics to tutorials, project overviews and tons more. You might find what they have to say about the mathematics of amplification in the transistor tutorial interesting. I'm not saying you need it- you have a comprehensive knowledge of all that I know, but you might like to read it anyway.. =^)

Also, I know next to nothing about transistors. I just assume that you can fit more magic inside of a TO-220 package than you can fit into a TO-92. That's about it. :P

Colin's website is great, but he's a bit scattered. You have to read the whole book to get it.
