Bouncy ball problem

Press button to start bouncing. Tbh the motion don't seem right , should bounce faster when dampening down. Anyone have ideas how to fix it?

Il played around with the logic gate resistors and they produced interesting results, for example, I lowered the resistance progressively on each logic gate and the ball bounced faster.

Lenz thanks but as the amplitude decreases the frequency should increase due to the ball has less distance to travel. Would need to change the LC tank to something like an AM FM oscillator, or maybe I'm over complicating it, hmm...
