You can change the 555 frequency and then change the low pass filter to a cut off below the frequency.

It seems like the peak of the wave keeps decreasing in voltage. Will it eventually level out?

I'm using a simulation speed of 60us /s and eventually it does stabilize.You could replace the 555 with a schmidt gate oscillator and see if it's an improvement.I don't think this simulator has any schmidt Gates to play with.
