A empiric way to find coil inductance is measure the voltage drop on a resistor and a inductor in series. Theory says that there is certain frequency in this configuration where resistor's resistance will match inductor's reactance. Adjust the function generator knob until this happens. Knowing the resistance and the frequence applied, use 2πfL=XL equation to calculate the inductance. You will need two voltmeters and a wave function generator to achieve it. Logically, an meter with inductance reading will make all this unnecessary!
