This circuit is my modification of the standard Baxandall tone control circuit. This circuit uses 100K pots. The result of this is the need for a high to low impedance buffer amp circuit on the input and output side. An FET stage either mosfet of JFET could be used for this. The other main departure from the normal Baxandall layout is the choice of capacitors. On both bass and treble sides of this circuit you see equal caps. Obviously one side leads to the signal source side, while the other leads to ground. The left hand side of the circuit controls the bass cut and lift while the right hand side does the same for the treble. When both treble and bass control pots are set in the middle, a relatively flat response is achieved. However, you can see that there is an apparent insertion loss of over 6dB. Again, the use of BS170 based buffer amps would help with this problem.

Isn't the Baxandall the one that's inside of a feedback loop, and the James the one that's not? Anyway this is one of my favourite tone controls, especially with log pots. To bad we don't have those here :/

Look it up in Wikipedia. The guy who invented this circuit was called James baxandall

So these are the same person. Yeah I like sound from this circuit and it's so easy to modify for a specific use. I play bass guitar and I also design custom equipment and effects. This tone stack can easily be incorporated into my designs. It always sounds great!

Good and practical example of AC simulation in audio range. J.Baxandall invented it without any simulator !
