Left is input from power supply rectifier. Right output goes to filter capacitors. Resistor between collector and base is to set "turn on" time and get rid of "thump" sound when power amplifier is switched on. Transistor 2N3055 has current rating of 15 amp and 115 watts power circuit. Low power circuits can use smaller transistor.
