not really, this is how old electric bells work, in fire stations and schools and such. a solenoid inside the bell is connected to a sprung striker. when off, the striker makes contact with the bell. the solenoid, the striker and the bell are part of the circuit. when energised, the solenoid pushes the striker away from the bell, which acts like a switch opening. current through the solenoid is interrupted, so the spring pulls the striker back, which strikes the bell, and closes the switch, starting the cycle again
