Hit the switch, it pulses from the bottom transformers and two capacitors, collapsing the field at full load(10 Ohms) on the other side from the bottom transformers. Travels though the upper transformers(step up ratio), charges the last capacitors through the diodes, which raises the voltage higher.

there is about 10 volts ripple

You are right. It's about 10v. It's really around 240 volts. It keeps on going up, because the amperage is low and there is no output load. High voltage step up is inaccurate with the voltage.
