A series circuit is a circuit in which current only has one path to flow.
This circuit has a voltage source, a resistor and switch. If the switch is open there is a break in the circuit and current can not flow.
Look at what happens when the switch is closed.
Using Ohm's Law determine the total current in the circuit.
