Are you wanting a row of LED's to light to display voltage level?

In this topology you have different voltage drop across each led and only current value flowing. Led are working in current, to enlight them thwy neeed a current 10 to 20 mA. If you want measure different voltage level you have to find here in ec some project searching for voltmeter.

All the components here are in series, so the current through each one must be the same. This isn't the way to make a voltage indicator.

The reason the other circuit would work in real life is each led has a different voltage and amperage rating by color. In this app all leds are 2v and 20ma no matter what color.
