Simple 3 LED circuit that shows how resisters protect electronics by cutting down the amount of current going through each component. Kirchhoff's law at work. Notice how the amps are spread out between the functional LEDs. Amps in = Amps out. Note that each 2 V LED is rated for 20 milliamps, going 2x that amperage on an LED results in shenanigans. Increasing the ohms on the resistor will prevent a blowout in all LEDs in case one LED croaks.
