Great effort…👍 BTW, you can delete the diode on your 555 timer as it’s not needed.

The diode is totally valid here, as it brings the duty cycle of the output to approximately 50% (Would be a perfect 50% if the diode was ideal). If no diode was used, the capacitor is charged through the series connection of the 10k resistors but discharged through only one. To further improve the duty cycle ratio, an germanium diode or even an opamp based ideal diode could be used.
