If you take a NMOS instead of P its probably working as you expect. Keep it up!

and remove the 1uF at input. and use a bigger cap e.g 100uF for "offline storage" and an 900Ohm as current limiter for the LEDs the cap voltage is good for 25V and the LED just need 4 in total. NMOS I have taken EC default with increased 100um width. and the base voltage divider is a bit to low in resistance. 500k seems to even work for all resistors and keep power disipation low. Nice circuit idea!

Ahhh, and don't forget the ac source should be set to 311 peak for 220Vrms and 325 for 230Vrms
