Nand gate is the direct opposite of the And gate. In And gate, input will be equal to output if and only if there is the same value of inputs. If not, then the value of the output will be the opposite. Ex. Inputs are 1 and 1, the output will be 1. In Nand gates, the very same procedure like in the And gate takes place. The only difference is that, after getting the output, it will still need to be converted frm 1 to 0 or vice versa.
In the experiment, i use 2 voltages and 2 single pole double throw switches. A nand gate, and 2 resistors and 2 lamps. When both input is 5V see that the output will be 0 or a very small value which is negligible and is not enough to lit a lamp. However, if the inputs are both 0 V, the output will be inverted frm 0 to 5V wd which is more than enough to lit any of the lamps. Of course, the help of the current limiting resistors connected in series with the load will always be in need to avoid excessive flow of current in the lamp.
