it's not a boost converter and I don't know where to begin with this to correct it, you need to essentially short the inductor to ground, this if not for the npn being wrongly configured...

I do see what your talking about me placing the transistor in the wrong place, but technically its a dc-dc power converter i took the 12v at the input and was able to get 14v at the out put. even though most boost converters when built properly step up the voltage higher than what i got, the basic idea still holds, it still boosted the voltage by a bit.

not boosted anything, the 20 volt pwm signal is what's causing that extra voltage

this is more like a voltage regulator without any feedback

I can see where your coming from I dropped the pwm signal to 5 volts at its high and dropped the Vin source to 1v and slowly it climbs but yes, there is a direct correlation between the pwm signal and the source voltage

so to fix it you need to essentially short the inductor and then use a diode to dump it into the capacitors

oh yes i know the fundamentals i just thought i could get away with a different configuration
