A summing amplifier combines multiple input signals into a single combined output using an operational amplifier. In this simulation, three AC signals with different frequencies pass through equal resistors and are combined at the op-amp input. The feedback resistor controls the gain of the circuit. The output waveform is the mathematical sum of all input signals; therefore, the final waveform appears more complex.
Summing amplifiers are commonly used in audio mixers and signal processing.
