Two simple circuits; the first with two alkali one time 1.5V cells and the other with two rechargeable 1.25V cells in series, both driving current into a 2V LED through a series resistor.
Here both the concept of connecting batteries in series is illustrated as well as the difference between alkali one time cells and rechargeable cells (e.g. NiCd or Li-Ion types).
